Hardie Grant, Australia, May 2005. 'One of the most refreshing books on this subject published in recent years. Tips, guides and personal experiences show women the way to negotiate their own working conditions. The strength of Let go of my leg! is in its practical applications. It guides you through the processes once you’ve made the decision to return to work, but best of all, it recognises that a woman’s needs are different after children.' Karen Hardy, Canberra Times Votes for women, The Australian Story
"Votes for women" was the cry all over Australia 100 years ago. From paddock to parlour, women gathered to plan the campaigns that would lead the world and win them the vote. Harassment and hostility were met with strength of purpose and good humour. Women put all their talents to work for the cause. They published magazines and opened clubs, they staged mock elections and women's parliaments, and they wrote poetry to celebrate. They distributed pamphlets, demonstrated and devised petitions. Women toured the country, crossing mountains and struggling through the outback by carriage or horse-drawn cart, whatever it took to put votes for women on the agenda. Victory did not come easily, but step by step, state by state, women triumphed. |

Our group lunch with Kirsten delved into all the issues yet at the same time was lighthearted, practical and highly pragmatic and brought together a group of women who all faced the same pressures albeit working for a variety of different financial institutions.'
